Asamblea De La Resistencia Cubana
Assembly of the Cuban Resistance

Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, inc. "Starwood", recently signed agreements with three Cuban Military owned hotels. The Assembly of the Cuban Resistance "Asamblea" together with the Forum for Rights and Liberties (inside Cuba) "Foro" submitted a letter to Starwood CEO Thomas Mangas on July 28, 2016. A letter was received from Mr. Mangas a week later which did not address any of the issues pointed out in the letter. A follow-up letter was sent on August 9, 2016 to Mr. Mangas reiterating the items addressed on the July 28, 2016 letter and requesting for a response to these items. As of today, no further communication has been received from Mr. Mangas and he has not been available to answer numerous calls made to him nor have any of our messages been returned. > Details on Starwood

Marriott International "Marriott" is currently in the process of acquiring Starwood, a move that would create the world's largest hotel company. The Assembly of the Cuban Resistance together with the Forum for Rights and Liberties (inside Cuba), issued a letter on August 24, 2016 to Mr. J.W. Marriott Jr., Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board of Marriott, Mr. Arne M. Sorenson, President and CEO, and the Board of Directors for Marriott.  We are pending a response by Marriott and will continue requesting a response from Starwood on both of their choices to do business with Castro's Military Regime in Cuba. Our hope being that these two companies, both public, both with strong human rights and labor rights policies will refrain from doing business with a regime that allows no rights and enriches itself thru a process of enforcing servitude.  >See Marriott Letter
